RESUMO

Em função das últimas discussões nas "redes sociais" e nos noticiários sobre o significado, limites e conteúdos das "fake news", isto é, das "notícias falsas" no Brasil e no exterior sobre vários assuntos na saúde, na economia e na política etc. em vários tipos de mídias, aproveitou-se para resgatar e ressignificar a questão polêmica, a priori desnecessária, sobre se existe ou não Mata Atlântica no Piauí, considerando que somente temos dois biomas com representação no território piauiense: o Cerrado e a Caatinga, e que as coletas de material botânico até agora realizadas em alguns remanescentes de "florestas", desde a década de 70, não sustentam a ideia da existência do domínio florístico da "Mata Atlântica" e/ou de alguma província florística da "Mata Atlântica" brasileira, em função da ausência de espécies exclusivas e/ou de espécies endêmicas diretamente associadas, isto é, "marcadoras". Quando aparecem espécies da Mata Atlântica brasileira no Piauí, as mesmas também ocorrem no Cerrado, na Caatinga, na Amazônia, simultaneamente, em pelo menos dois desses tipos de vegetação.

ABSTRACT
Due to the latest discussions on "social media" and in the news about the meaning, limits and contents of "fake news", in Brazil as well in all world about a lot of issues, such as health, economics and policy, etc. We enjoy the opportunity to bring up the controversial and still unnecessary question about the existence of the Atlantic Forest in the state of Piauí. Considering that there only have two biomes with representation in all its territory: Cerrado and Caatinga, also that the collections of botanical material collected since the 1970s in some fragments of forests, do not support the hypothesis of the presence of the domain floristic of the "Atlantic Forest" and/or some floristic province of the Brazilian "Atlantic Forest". Instead, these studies have been showing the absence of exclusive species and/or endemic species directly associated from this type of vegetation. Besides, when species from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest appear in Piauí, they also occur in the Cerrado, in the Caatinga, in the Amazon, simultaneously, in at least two of these types of vegetation.
